What is a Subluxation?

When a vertebrae becomes misaligned or moves out of its normal position, this is referred to as a subluxation. Subluxations can be caused by a wide range of issues ranging from bad posture, a minor slip or bump, a car accident or any sudden trauma. When a vertebrae is subluxated, it may put pressure on nerves, blood vessels and other surrounding tissues. This pressure comes with a price. The subluxation interferes with the messages  sent to and from the brain which may result in pain and dysfunction anywhere in the body.

As time goes by and a subluxation remains untreated, the spine and surrounding tissues including the discs may begin to degenerate. This degeneration becomes more difficult to reverse as time goes by as the surrounding muscles, nerves and bones begin to adjust to the new positioning of the vertebrae. The body is an amazing machine but it may start to accommodate these negative changes by compensating in other areas, which may lead to more dysfunction. The longer this proceeds, the difficulty and time it takes for correction is significantly increased.
